I watched how little water drops dropped from melting icicles to window sill outside the castle. Tip, tip, tip... Hypnotic voice chimed in my head. Outside there was beautiful weather, the sun shined from clear sky and it seemed that there was no wind at all. The grass peeped here and there underneath the snow.

I drew my eyes from window. I wasn't just hanging out in the castle's hallway, actually I was going to kitchen, because I needed to get a packed lunch for going to spring trip.

I didn't know where I got that idea. It just popped to my head, when I got out of the last lesson today. I thought the idea of wanting to go alone on a trip was maybe connected with the date of today. Today was 1.4. and that was a bad thing. It was April Fool's day today, so I wanted to be alone as much as possible. Today I have been the target to too many of pranks, so I was little bit tired with them. Of course that would be totally different thing, if I myself could trick somebody, but no. This morning somebody turned my clock one hour forward, I had an spider in my schoolbag, pumpkin juice in my ink bottle, Every flavor beans in my lunch soup and wrong books in my bag. I got wet when somebody throwed slime on me and after that one of my friends gived me chili candys. There were a couple of reasons why I didn't like April Fool's day.

So at last I head my steps to kitchen. Hallways were full of chatting students, so there were a little bit noicy. I walk quietly, as usual, scampering through the mass.Noe and then I glanced to windows, because I worried that a cloud may float to front of the sun. But luckily there weren't any clouds in the sky.

”A werewolf, a werewolf!” One older Serpentard screamed and spotted behind me. I turned aroud very quicly and scared, but then all student's in the hallway started to laught. To me, I guessed. But that wasn't funny, I was really afraid of werewolves. I blushed and ran quicly out of that hallway. I wanted just to get quickly to kitchen and then out of the castle.

Usually Fridays were the best days of a week, but today I wasn't so sure about this fact. I hated to be scared all the time. I understand that pupils like to fool around in honor of this day, but so do teachers. I couldn't relax even on lessons. Our potions professor cheated me to put rat tail powder to my cure for boils and it exploded. Thanks to my goggles I'm alive and 'thanks' to professor who obviously tried to kill me. I have a sence of humor, but my humor is different. Luckily April Fool's Day is only once a year.

The schoolday was finally over and I was planning to take a little walk outdoors. Little bit fresh air, birdsongs and sunlight - the sunshine surely would cheer me up. I was going to the hallway where the front door is. The corridor was long and quite dark, but this was the quickest way outside.

Suddenly I saw someone running towards me. I gave space to the busy person and glanced at her. The girl was familiar to me, even more, she was my friend. The girl has hazel brown hair, brown eyes, pretty face and cute freckles.

"Katrine!" I said out loud and stopped "Why do you have such a hurry?"

I had never seen this girl as busy as now. Usually Katrine was very calm, like me, therefore her acting was a little bit strange. Actually we had plenty of other things in common; shyness, sensibility and politines. I have chatted with Katrine a few times after Halloween and I like her, even more. I have to admit that I am a little bit crushed on her. Don't tell to anybody!

I ran thought one hall and down the stairs, along a corridor, down the stairs again, around a corner and - ”Katrine”, familiar voice suddenly called me, when I was running to mainhall. I stopped running and looked aroud. And there he was, the only person I maybe liked to meet today - Marceau Forest. I though Marceau is not that kind of people who wants to do pranks, I though he's more like me, the target. My other friends may play triks on me, so I think is wiser to run a mile away of them today. ”Why do you have such a hurry?” Marceau asked with astonishment.

I tried to calm down and walked to him. ”Umm... Nothing, just a stupid prank”, I mumbled and wiped my eyes quickly so that Marceau wouldn't think that I had tears in my eyes. ”I just took fright at it...” I looked up to him and got an idea. ”Marceau, where were you going?” I asked him. ”I just thought, if you would like to come with me to a little spring trip? I was going to kitchen to get some packed lunch”, I explaned. Yeah, exactly I didn't want to go alone anymore, Marceau's company may be good counterbalance to April Fool's day's tricks. And when I thought more closely, I didn't understand, why I originally wanted to go alone. How wonderful could it be to go with a friend! We could watch birds and bugs and eat lunch by the lakeside and maybe wade on the shore, if ice has melted... But what about if he is busy?

”But of course if you're busy... That was a stupid idea...” I said shyly. Of course I didn't want to press him. I looked down to floor and felt that I blushed. Great, why do I blush even with friends? Does it ever stop?

If I hadn't called Katrine's name, she wouldn't have even noticed me. However she had time to stop and look who has called her. I'm not sure, but I think that Katrine seemed to be happy to see me. She stepped to me and answered my question.

”Umm... Nothing, just a stupid prank. I just took fright at it...”

She mumbled her answer to me. I couldn't help myself from seeing that Katrine was a little bit scared. Apparently I wasn't the only one who hated pranks and the first day of April. I unterstood Katrine, but I hadn't words to her. But if I was braver, I would have a couple of selected words to jokers.

”Marceau, where were you going? I just thought, if you would like to come with me to a little spring trip? I was going to kitchen to get some packed lunch... But of course if you're busy... That was a stupid idea...”

Katrine countinued her speech shyly. I couldn't help myself from laughing kindly. Katrine was so sweet when she was hesitant. I would have liked to hug her, but I contained myself. I was more than happy to hear Katrine’s request. I smiled at her.

“It wasn’t a stupid idea, of course I come with you. I was going to outside to enjoy the weather, but I prefer to go with you to alone”

I had butterflies in my stomach – a lots of butterflies. I had waited this day a long time. Always when we two had met, we had time to chat only few minutes. Now we probably had more time to chat and get to know each others.

“So, let’s go to kitchen”

I called out and turned to walk the way to the kitchen. The kitchen would be located just a few turns from here.

Marceau laughed a bit, but not unfriendly. That made me smile to him. Maybe he didn't think that was the worst idea in the world.

”It wasn't a stupid idea”, Marceau confirmed my mind, ”of course I come with you. I was going to outside to enjoy the weather, but I prefer to go with you to alone. So, let's go to the kitchen.”

Marceau started to walk to kitchen. Or maybe not, actually I had no idea where the kitchen was. How did I imagine I could go there alone, when I didn't even know where it was? Ask someone? No, I would never be brave enough to do that. Suddenly I realized that I lagged behind, so I sprinted to Marceau and continued walking alongside him.

”I haven't ever been in school's kitchen” I told him. ”Have you? Is it far from here?” I swiped my hair off my face nervously. Was it even permitted to go to kitchen? Doesn't it disturb house elves' work if students are running in kitchen all the time and begging for something to eat? I didn't want to get detention, again. One detention was enough to one year. In muggle school I got detention only once in all those five years I'd been there.

Luckly Marceau didn't seem like he was scared about getting detention, so I decided to trust him. Obviously he wasn't going first time to kitchen.

I started to walk in the direction of the kitchen. Suddenly I noticed that Katrine stayed far behind me and I had to slow down. Usually I was the slower person, therefore waiting was a new thing to me. I found a new similarity between me and Katrine, again.

”I haven't ever been in school's kitchen. Have you? Is it far from here?”

Katrine told while she reached me. I gave a small laugh to her. Katrine was going to the kitchen even if she didn't know where it is. I have never unterstood the logic of girls, perhaps Katrine has to teach it to me.

"You were going to kitchen even if you don't know where it is? I have visited once, about a month ago. It is nice place and the house elves are friendly."

I continued walking beside Katrine. I turned left once, right twice and then we arrived in front of the door of kitchen. The door was wooden and there was a picture of a fruit plate. Silent tinkle of diches was heard through the door. Marceau put his hand on the doorknob and pulled - it didn't open.

"Do you know, Katrine, you have to tickle the pear to get into kitchen. Try!"

I said to Katrine and waited. The request might sound strange, but it was true. On my first time I was wondering the same thing - the pear was the entrance to the kitchen. Witches and wizards were genius!

Marceau gave me a laught. ”You were going to kitchen even if you don't know where is it? I have visited once, about a month ago. It is nice place and house elves are friendly.”

Great, Katrine, five minutes with Marceau and he already thinks you're eccentric. I smiled nervously in order not to seem exited and worried. I walked quietly with Marceau and tried to bear the route in my mind. The way wasn't long at all. A couple of turns and Marceau stopped in front of wooden door. There was a picture of a fruit plate on it. Marceau tried to open the door, but it didn't obey.

Was it locked? There wasn't a keyhole on the door. How could we get in? What went wrong? I nearly paniced, before Marceau saved me by saying:

”Do you know, Katrine, you have to tickle the pear to get into kitchen. Try!”

”No, I didn't know”, I said. Or was that a rethorical question? Anyway, I couldn't understand, why had Marceau tried to open the door other way, if he knew better way all the time. I took a step closer the door and touched the pear in the painting. The door stayed close. I tried tickle it, and it opened. How simple.

I walked to kitchen. It was a big room full of kitchen accessories and working elves. I let my eyes wander in the room.

”This really is a cool place”, I said to Marceau.

I watched Katrine while she tried to open the door. She touched the pear in the painting, but nothing happened. If I was a person who likes to do jokes, this would have been the best joke ever. However I was a trustworthy person and the door opened.

Me and Katrine stepped to kitchen while the pear was giggling loudly. This was unforeseen that I knew something about miracles of magic world before Katrine. Usually I was the person whom everything was new. If truth to be told I was very amazed last month when I visited first time in the kitchen. I had never tickled a picture before and I took fright when the door opened - for no reason.

Now the kitchen was familiar place and it seemed completely same than last time; a lots of dishes, food, noise and house-elves. Katrine said the place was cool and I agreed. This was one of the coolest place I had never seen. I encouraged myself and started to speak to house elves.

"Mmm... I'm sorry if we bother but... could we have a little bit packed lunch... please. We are going outside a little spring trip and..."

My sentence has interrupted when three house-elves came to us carrying a picnic basket. It was quick action. I took the basket and peeked into it. There was a blanket and all kinds of eating; fruits, vegetables, biscuits, muffins, chocolate and a baquette. I wondered the amount of food - it would be enough at least for a week. As a matter of fact I wouldn't have been offened, if I could spend my time with Katrine for a week.

”Mmm... I'm sorry if we bother but... Could we have a little bit packed lunch?” Marceau asked house elves. Same time I wandered to other side of kitchen. Kitchen was noicy, but I could still hear Marceau continuing his request: ”We are going outside a little spring trip and...”

I had a short look to him and I noticed that the same time he said that, a couple of house elves came to him carrying a bascet. Full of food, I supposed. But I had my own plans. I didn't want to be the only student in the school who couldn't do any single practical joke at April Fool's Day.

I walked to one of house elves, a one doing the dishes. ”Excuse me, umm, mister?” I said. The elf turned around and I relized that it was a woman. ”Sorry, missis, I ment, miss, lady...” How should I call a house elf? ”Can you maybe...” I whispered her my request. I didn't want that Marceau could hear me. Not yet.

The elf nodded her head and scuttled away. It came back in couple of seconds and gave me three white mugs and a thermos bottle. I smiled to her and took the burden.

”Thank you very much”, I said, waved her and walked back to Marceau.

”I brought some hot chocolate, do you like it?” I asked him and started to walk towards the door.. ”Shall we go, or do we need something else?”

I took a look to Katrine who wandered in the kitchen. She walked to one of the house-elves and said something. I tried to hear what Katrine said but she spoke so quietly that I could hear nothing. In couple of seconds the house-elf came by carrying a thermos bottle and three mugs - three? I didn't dare to ask why.

”I brought some hot chocolate, do you like it? Shall we go, or do we need something else?”, Katrine said to me.

"Yes, I love it! Let's go.", I answered.

I walked with Katrine towards the door and stepped to corridor. I turned right twice and then we arrived to a side door. It would be the fastest way to out, and I thought I wasn't the only one who wanted to avoid the main hall.

"Shall we go out? Ladies First"

I opened the door to Katrine because I wanted to be as polite as possible to her. I smiled widely.
